Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

bank acount siezed

My husband and is ex-wife had a judgment against them for a bill they had when they were married. We beleive that she gave the creditor our banking information wich allowed the company to sieze $8,440 dollars from our acount without any warning after my husband had entered into negosiations with them to pay the bill. Does the creditor have to divulge how they got our acount information and if so and she did give it out do we have legal recorse against both the creditor and his ex-wife.
