Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

bill partially owed

sued by phone co. for $633.00 in superior ct. thru collection bureau. they will accept only full amt. i have stmts to prove $325 i owe. i don't want judgement against me. can i and how can i mediate or resolve? call to collect. atty, he won't accept less than full amt.

They do not have to accept a partial payment. You can enter into a stipulated judgment. They would get a judgment against you and you would agree to make payments.

If they do not want to do that, you could fight the case. Your evidence of the payment would reduce the amount of the debt. You could use that to make an offer pursuant to Code of Civil Procedure 998.
