Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

Billed

I signed up for a stamp free trial website. I cancelled my card before the free trial was over and assumed that it would cancel the account. Now months later I am recieving invoices/bills from them. I called up and was told that yes I do have to pay, is this legal?

Re: Billed

doesn't sound legal -- i'd be interested in reviewing the history -- do you have proof that you canceled? feel free to send more info and documentation to my email below. thanks.

Re: Billed

Maybe. What were the terms of the agremeent when you signed up? You need to read those carefully. If they do not talk about this, then this may be a violation of the Consumer Legal Remedies Act.

Re: Billed

The issue is whether the act of cancelling your 'card' terminated your obligations under the agreement with the 'stamp free trial website'. Since the issue is fact specific, I would need to know more facts to give a comprehensive answer to your query.
