Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

hello! I want to know if i book a trip for 2 people. A friend and myself. After booking my friend finds out he cant go and we have to cancell the trip. Is it my responsibility to pay for my cancellation fees to the travel agent or is it his?

ps: i know this is a small conflict but it was a $100 fee which i had to pay for nothing and it wasnt my fault at all.

As far as the agent is concerned, you are liable since you booked the trip. You, in turn, can probably go after your friend for the $100, as you were not at fault for the cancellation. If s/he won't pay it voluntarily, then you will have to sue him/her, and for $100, it may not be worth the time, cost and effort you will have to put into a Small Claims Court lawsuit.
