borrowed money not returned
i wrote a check for a $1000 to a friend in california because they needed a down payment for a loan. on the check i wrote that this was a loan. when i went out to california a few months ago, we had gotten into an argument because they were susposed to repay the loan. the person has since changed the phone number and will not return my correspondence by mail. what can i do to get my money back? i live in ohio.

You can file a small claims case and arrange to serve it from where you are but you will still need to come out for the trial.
