Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

CA Statue of Limitations on 'purchased' debt

Does the statue of limitations begin anew when an 'old debt' (i.e: more then 4 years old) is sold to a third party? Does this mean until a debt is resolved, it can keep being sold to other agencies who can then file a new ''notice of deliquency'' on your credit thus damaging it forever?

The debt is uncollectable after four years after the last payment or when the last payment was due, whichever is later. You can challenge it with the credit reporting companies.
