cancelation notification

Does a credit card company (American Express) have to notify the card holder before they cancel their account. They are canceling the account based solely on an external credit bureau report.

As I understand it, Amex is canceling cardholders who buy retread tires or visit marriage counselors because their software has predicted customers who frequent these types of merchants are more likely to default. Whether your contract allows this... have you tried reading the contract?
