Car dealership wants to change my lease
On 6/21/00, a car dealership and I agreed on a purchase price for a new vehicle, and a trade-in value for my used car. I choose to lease the new vehicle. The lease was signed by all parties, I turned over my used car and took the new vehicle home. Nothing looked out of the ordinary to me when the dealership reviewed the lease with me, and I signed it in good faith. On 6/26/00, the dealership called to say they made a $7000 mistake on the lease and they needed me to come down and change the contract. If I refuse to ammend the lease, can I be held to any consequence(s)?

They can�t change the lease unless the lease specifically allows it. I think they are stuck with it. if the $7,000 mistake had been in their favor do you think they would sign a new contract?

A mutual mistake of fact may allow a recision of the contract. Thus depending on the nature of the mistake, the car dealership could sue you for recision of the contract and win a judgment for recision and maybe costs. Recision means the court would order both parties to be put back where they started. You would have your money and your old car back and the dealership would get back the new car and the lease would be cancelled.
