new car lease and old judgement

i have a defalted loan which a judgement was granted against me .i still have the vehicle in my possesion i also have a leased vehicle the contract is almost up .i would like to lease another vehicle,will the judgement have to be paid off first?

It depends on what your leasing company looks at, their experience with you, or your credit rating. It may be that your rating is still high enough to get the credit from your leasing company. It is, therefore, not possible to answer your question unequivocally.

A judgment is a negative on your credit rating that may cause you to get leases or loans at higher interest rates, or be denied credit.

Normally, to lease a vehicle you do not have to pay off a judgment, although you do have to have certain credit score minimums (this varies from lender to lender, and from special offer to special offer), and paying off the judgment might help your total credit score.

I would recommend getting a copy of your credit score. This would give you a start as to what you should do to improve your credit, so that you can be preapproved, or otherwise know that you can qualify before your other lease is up.
