With regard to seizure of other properties, there are exemption laws that protect personal and real property and debts can be discharged in bankruptcy. Deficiencies pursuant to motor vehicle repossessions can be steep. Those car commercials, all gleaming chrome, open road, and pretentious voiceovers... translate into a lot of debt. I recommend consulting with a bankruptcy attorney in your area.
