Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

i took a car out for my sister,she went to mexico with her family and tottald the car never told me she just stopt paying the bill.2 years later they call me and said i have a charge off.but i dont have the car or the 15000$ to pay the car what do i do?

You are going to have to either negotiate a deal with the lender, or look into filing bankruptcy if you have other debt problems. When you took the loan out for your sister, you agreed to repay that money, and frankly it is irrelevant who drove the car, who had possession and who totalled the car. You can probably sue your sister for the money, but that will be less-than easy with her in Mexico. Even if you do sue her, the bank has the right to come after you for the money; unless you can negotiate something with them, you will have to get really good a dodging their collection efforts, or look at insolvency.
