Cleaning up my credit report and uping my score

I have two credit cards from the same compamy with two differant accounts one opened in 1999 one 2000 with both charched off in 8/00 now we are trying to buy a home and they reporting againg as of 3/07 is the account to old for them to collect on and what can i do. I stopped paying due too a back injury and have not worked since then. help!

They can stay on your credit for up to 7 years. The 7 years has not expired yet.
