1. the debator needs to pay the child support and the alimony. if i asked to garnish the debator's wages, do i have the chance to get my judgement. how long this processing?

2. the debator has his own small business. is it harder to garnish the wages?(compare with if he is employed by someone else?)

Re: collect the judgement

If you do not already have one, you will need to get an order awarding child support. If you use a competent attorney, this ordinarily takes no more than a couple of months. Sometimes you can get a child support order in just a few days if there is an emergency. It would be difficult to collect the wages of someone who is self employed. But there are many options here; you can attach his bank account (will only work once), you can lien his property and equipment, and you may be able to attach his receivables. You can also use the Child Support Services to help you collect child support, but it may be a long time before they initially seek a court order. How successful you are, depends on how much the father has and how easy it will be to get at it.
