Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

How can I collect on a promissory note? The amount is over $17000.00.

The person that owes me the money is not making any effort to pay me back. It was promised at $1000.00/ month payments. I am very reasonable and patient and just want some kind of payment per month till the debt is paid off.

The first thing to do is send a written demand, certified return receipt. Keep a copy of the letter. In it, you can give your debtor a fixed day in which to pay a fixed amount. If that doesn't happen, you'd have to file a lawsuit. There are collection attorneys who specialize in the entire process.

Get a judgment or a stipulated judgment which would require payments or allow you to begin collection actions. Contact me directly.
