Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

Collection Agency Suing They Want Stipulation

I am being sued by a collection agency. Instead of going to court they want me to agree to a monthly payment (which I have already been paying) and a stipulation. What is a stipulation? If I agree to the stipulation does that mean if I don't make the payments they win a judgement against me legally and they can garnish my wages? Or does it mean that we automatically go to court? What are the ramifications if I agree to the stipulation. I assume they will take me to court if I don't. I was paying $50.00 per month in payments when I received the summons.

Re: Collection Agency Suing They Want Stipulation

a stipulation is a contract. in your case they probably want you to stipulate to a judgment so they can garnish your wages without going to court.
