Re: collection

You need to first record an Abstract of Judgment in any County in which the judgment debtor owns real property. You then need to "execute" on the judgment. You "execute" on the judgment in a variety of ways, including, but not limited to, garnishing the judgment debtor's wages and bank accounts, etc.

If you do not know where the judgment debtor works, or where it's bank accounts are located, you can apply to the court for an Order for Appearance and Examination, commanding the judgment debtor to appear in court and give testimony concerning its assets.

There are several self-help books you can locate that will give you a wealth of information. You can also visit your local County Law Library and consult The Rutter Group's book, California Practice Guide: Enforcing Judgment and Debts.
