collection company wont contact me

I have two collections on my trw and two other credit report agencies. one is for $214.00, the other for $300.00. both bills are over 7 yrs old. Recently I wrote all companies wanting to take care of these bill to get my report clear.It have been two months so I sent out more letters. It has been three months and have not heard from them at all. I need to clear my report, so I can get into a law enforcement job. What are my rights? What can I do? Please help. Thank you.

You are doing the right thing by writing to the credit agencies. I suggest the following:

1. Call the agencies and confirm their addresses

2. Make sure you provide the agencies with information about you in your letter such as your social security number and address for the last 5 years

3. Make sure the agency has your return address

4. When you contact them, make them aware that you have contacted them in the past.

I have not seen the letters you have written, but credit agencies are usually pretty good about getting back to you with a progress report and letting you know they are at least looking into your claim.
