Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

Collection of debts by a foreign bank

Five years ago I stopped paying the mortgage on a property in Germany. Last year all the legal procedings in Germany for foreclosure were completed and the property was auctioned Feb 2000. The German mortgage bank is now (July) trying to get me to pay the outstanding mortgage and 5 years of mortgage interest.

The debt is approx $125,000.

What actions can a German bank take in California to collect on an outstanding mortgage debt?

They must file a lawsuit in CA asking the court to convert the judgment to a CA judgment.
