Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

collection on personal debt

filed bankruptcy and it was final ten years ago. Have not heard from anyone until now, trying to collect a debt from eleven years ago that was put into bankruptcy. Is their a statue of limitation on time a debt can be collected and also aren't they suppose to stop trying to collect?

Recently been contacted and was told I skipped on the debt and they have just located me. Why are they contacting me, and is this legal? In closing, this person was very rude, pushy, and demanding and saying they will put a lien against me if I don't settle the bill right away.

Re: collection on personal debt

They are in violation of the Fair Credit and reporting act, as well as many other statutes.

Send them a letter, and tell them if you hear from them again, you will file suit for their unlawful harrassment.
