Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

collection

I am a 70 year old widow, living on about $500.00 a month. I am being sued by a credit card company for $10,000.00. I have already lost my home to forclosure and I can't afford to pay this. Can they place a lien on my Socical Security check or my husband pension, or my checking account. Do I have any options besides bankruptcy?

thank you

Re: collection

Give us a call. When you say "I am being sued," do you mean you have been sued or they are threatening to sue? Threatening to sue is illegal. We sue debt collectors for this all the time and recover money for our clients. As for your social security check, no - they can't attach that. Same with pension. Don't file bankruptcy. We have alternatives that actually put money in your pocket.
