Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

collectors' lien

Over 10yrs. ago, I moved to get out of an abusive relationship where my safety was involved, I had bought a truck on a 4yr. lease, I had to move quickly, and left the truck @ my former address, i called the finance co. & informed them of my situation. However, they sold my remaining 1 yr. on the lease to a collection co. and after trying to serve me @ old addresses, they continued to re-file every 5yrs., and now its been over 10yrs. and what was a few thousand dollars, has turned into over 38,000.00 with penalties and interest from this collection firm who bought my old loan, and now they have attached liens to my work and condo. demanding payment, and wont negotiate anything with me, i'm considering bankruptcy, can you please help me and direct me what to do?

Re: collectors' lien

We would need to get more specific information from you here, but in a nutshell, your most viable options would be one of the following, if your creditor's claims have not already been barred by virtue of the statute of limitations: 1. an unsecured debt consolidation loan, 2. debt negotiated settlement or 3. bankruptcy. Re: collectors' lien

You have 2 options if they will not negotiate with you: 1. pay them in full, or 2. bankruptcy. They obvioulsy do not care if you file bankruptcy, otherwise they would negotiate with you. If they don't care about you, why should you care about them?
