Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California
I was contacted by a collection agency wanting me to pay for a debt. They said that if i did not call back to the number they gave me I was going to get served. I called and talked to a person and he offered me a settlement. I agreed and payed $100 as a good faith payment. I am suppose to pay about $1100 next month. All I received from them was a email with an attachment of our agreement. I want to know if I should follow through with the payment or find out more. I did not request them to validate the debt which was a big mistake by me. What should i do?

Ask them to provide proof of the debt. There are so many scammers out there, that I would not trust anyone.
