Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California
Copier Lease
I signed a copier lease with the
copier company buying out the lease
of the old copier. When I was asked
how much longer we had on the
lease I stated ''I think 3 months'' to
which the salesperson replied'' It is
OK I will check that''. The copier was
delivered and after a month the
salesman called to say that we
actually had another year on the
lease and he would rewrite a new
one. I would have never signed a
new lease with the new dollar
amount I was given. I am a small
business and the company that sold
us the copiers is IKON. Do I have any
hope of winning?

Re: Copier Lease
If you werent sure of the length of the lease, you cannot hold them responsible for knowing that. You are just going to have to keep a copy of this lease and not get a new lease until this one is up.
Re: Copier Lease
Use your new copier to make several copies of your new lease. Then, take a manila file folder and label it, "Copier Lease." Place one of the copies in the file folder and file it under "C" for Copier. Do the same thing two more times, filing two more copies of the lease under "L" for Lease and "I" for Ikon, respectively. That way, you'll be able to find your existing lease the next time this situation arises.
