Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

Country Club Membership

Can a country club make you pay dues AFTER you quit, after you declare yourself out? I know memberships agreements say you must still pay, but is that legal to be obligated forever for something you surrender?

Re: Country Club Membership

It really depends on the nature of the membership agreement. Some country clubs operate like a fitness club...you pay dues only as long as you are a members. Others are more like a condminium...you can't escape your obligation to pay your dues until you sell your unit (or membership).
