Re: Court motions
You do this when you sue somebody and they don't respond to the lawsuit, you would then file and serve a Request for Entry of Default which is the first of several steps to get a default judgment.
Re: Court motions
Filing a Request for Entry of Default is done when the defendant has not responded to the lawsuit in the time allowed by law. When a default is entered, it means the defendant can no longer fight the lawsuit. It is the legal eqivalent to an admission that the allegations of the lawsuit are true. It is the first of several steps that are taken to obtain entry of a default judgment.
Re: Court motions
This is the step you take when the defendant does not answer the lawsuit. Basically, it ends the possibility of the defendant answering the lawsuit.
