Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

Credit Card Debt - Leaving Country

I have a credit card debt of $20k since last 2 yrs and have been paying minimum payments, because of the family reasons, I will be moving to India and will have no way to pay these minimum payments. I have no fixed assets or bank accounts in the USA. I am not really worried about my credit, what can these credit card companies do to me, if I ever come back to USA will I be in any kind of trouble?. will they contact my employer and try to garnish my foreign wages etc?,

Please help

Re: Credit Card Debt - Leaving Country

from the facts given, these credit card companies or their collection agents will come after you any way they can legally, including possible asset attachments or garnishing of your wages if you do return to the united states within the statutory period per se. however, there are quite a number of options available to you before you leave the country that could resolve this matter for you even before you depart. if you would like a free phone consultation regarding your various options and legal rights in this matter, email us directly with your contact information today. we should be able to assist you immediately with this legal problem.

They would first have to sue you, something they are not easily apt to do. Probably when they find out that you have left the country, and they should be told. you can negotiate a settlement or defend against any claim they are making which is not appropriate.
