Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

Old credit card debt and rules for paying/notpaying

I was contacted by a collection agency about cc debt that is over 10 years old. I began to pay them a certain amount a month until I could research the law. Because I began to make monthly payments, does this make the debt current? Can I stop paying because the debt is over 4 years old even though I have made a few payments? What does the law state about this and could you suggest some good websites for research? Thanks in advance.

Re: Old credit card debt and rules for paying/notpaying

Too bad you made a payment. You reset the statute of limitations (which had expired) and now they can legally collect the debt with interest.
