Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California
credit card debt/gambling addiction
I live near an indian resv. casino, I became addicted to slots. I have over 45,000 in credit card debt from cash advances and convienience checks in my name only, not my spouse. I want to file chapter 13 without my spouse, or I keep reading stuff about debt relief where someone arranges with the credit cards companies for a lower payoff. Will the fact that all my debt is from cash advances or convienience checks make any difference in chapter 13 or ''debt relief''

It just depends on the timing of when you took on most of your debt here, as it relates to the timing you are contemplating filing for bankruptcy. Chapter 7 may be a more viable option for you as well, but we would need more facts.
