Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California
credit card harasment
I've offered every option to my credit card company that would allow me to pay the debt I owe in full. Freeze/close my account so as not to acrue more debt, go on a payment plan, reduce the interest rate - anything. I've always offered to pay over time. I've been refused and harassed for the past year.
I don't feel the need to file for bankruptcy because I've offered to pay. What should I do?

Re: credit card harasment
Let me see if I get this. You ran up a lot of debt. You can't make the minimuim payment now and you want the credit card company to change the terms? Instead of freezing your account, why not just stop using your card? Wouldn't that accomplish the same goal?
What you need to do is to make the minimum payment or you will be sent to collections. Once there, you may be able to negotiate with the debt collector, but if you have the ability to pay and you have assets, they will come after you for the money plus attorneys fees.
