Credit card lawsuit answer document question

On a california answer - contract document , PLD-C-010, how and where on the document do i respond if i dont have a valid defense. The document is confusing to me.

Every lawsuit has a defense -- statute of limitations, amount is overstated, untimely, they're not a proper party, etc.

If you answer, it gives you leverage to negotiate. If they take your default and enter a default judgment, you won't have leverage.
