Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

Credit card reporting to credit bureau

I closed my credit card account. I have been making monthly payments to the credit card company and they have been accepting them. I wrote them when I closed my account to let them know I would be making the payments until the amount owed was paid. They have been taking my payments for over a year, but at the same time they are taking my payments they have reported this account as a charge off. I have never missed a payment and am still paying. Can they report this as a charge off while still taking my monthly payment? Just today I received a letter from them indicating my last payment made and when my next one is due. I have contacted the credit bureaus but nothing satistfactorily has happened yet. I just want this charge off off my bureau. What should I do?

Re: Credit card reporting to credit bureau

Your most direct action, although not entirely satisfying, is to write the credit bureau and advise them of what you have written to Law Guru. If they do not delete your credit card notation, which they may not, at least whenever a report is sent out containing the write off, your letter is required to accompany the report, at least your side of the story is transmitted to inquiring credit inquirers. As I said originally, "not entirely satisfying."
