Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

credit counselor, debt negotiator

I signed up with a debt negotiator who said she could redo my debts and help me get out of my bad home loan.(everyone else I tried told me no because of a low credit score) She charged me $500 up front then $200 a month, I made 5 payments, she was unable to get me a home loan and claims she raised my credit score by 100 points. After all this time she never got any lower interest rates and wanted to get 10% of any reduction of my debt. I stopped paying and now I think she may sue me, or it may be collection agency trying to scare me. Can she collect this money even though she never really did anyting? I did get strong armed into signing a contract.Any help would be great

Re: credit counselor, debt negotiator

It does not sound like you owe her anything. Furthermore, should you now have to file bankruptcy, the trustee will probably sue her for the return of the money you gave her.
