Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

Credit Debt

Hello,

I have a credit debt that I took out for a friend. Long story short, they bail, now I'm paying, but can't pay the money any more. It was a cash advance process, what can I do in regards to settle for a lower amount. I'm in CA - thank you,

Re: Credit Debt

You have to be careful with these payday loan outfits. The interest rates they charge border on unconscionable. In my experience they will likely take less as a pay off amount. A problem you might run into is that while attempting to negotiate a lower pay off your interest will still accrue causing the balance to spiral upwards. I have seen quite a few collection abuse cases stemming from payday loan lenders. Many times they believe the collection laws do not apply to them. If you run into trouble, feel free to contact me to discuss.
