Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

The credit relationship between Cable TV providers and consumers

I believed that I did not have a credit relationship with my cable provider. I believed that in CA when you quit paying the bill, the cable provider turned off the service, and the relationship ended. I was paid in full until I moved and then they billed me for additional months. I paid the bill after they turned it over to a collection agency and demanded repayment at the same time. If my belief can be supported by law I will sue them in small claims court.
