Creditor Payment Question

Have very delinquent account, rec'd. calls from coll. agency, ret'd calls, got VoiceMail, rec'd. letter from them. Called creditor who said possible to pull back account into recovery if I make remaining pymts. on time. Have made 1, and can now pay acct. off. Getting different info from creditor and coll. agency on best way to do this for credit reporting, i.e. better to pay creditor or coll. agency and possible to pull this acct. back in, as I was told (have letter from creditor asking me to confirm pymt. agreement, which I called to do, told they could do, that coll. agency would not contact me again-they did. When I called them to clarify, was told acct. could not be pulled back. Which will reflect better on credit report, i.e. pay creditor or coll. agency?

Re: Creditor Payment Question

It is now a question of who owns the account. If the creditor has assigned the account to the collection agency and you have received notice from the creditor that it did so, you MUST pay the collection agency. Short of that, the creditor still owns the account and you MUST pay them. They will take care of the collection agency and the negative remarks on your credit reports.
