Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

Can creditors access my checking account

I have a home in california and I may have to foreclose since I can't make any payments. But if bank happen to sell that home for less, will they come after me for the loss of their money? Can they access my checking account? How do they know about checking accounts that I have?
