Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California
Can a debt collector sue you after 10 years? I guess there might have been a balance on a credit card after my divorce 14. But can they take me to court now?

When was the last time a payment was made on the account?
The statute of limitations in California is 4 years. If there has been no activity on the account for more than 4 years, the debt is uncollectable. If they sue, you can claim the debt is too old and counter sue for a FDCPA violation.
