Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California
Debt owed
A friend gave three checks, $2000, $1000, and $2000, as a loan to an acquaintance in need with verbal promises to pay her back as soon as possible. This was April 2002. In many subsequent phone calls the debtor stalled her and then stopped answering calls when he recognized her voice. Is there legal recourse to get back her money, and if so, what?

No. The statute of limitation has run.
