Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California
If a default judgement is granted to a debt collector in California, how long does it take before the debt collector can try and garnish any wages or put a bank levy on my bank account(s)?

In California, small claims judgments are enforceable after the 30-day appeal period expires. Almost all other California judgments are enforceable immediately. Once the creditor submits a proposed Writ of Execution to the court, it might take a while for the court to process it due to staffing and budget cuts. But once the judgment creditor has the Writ, they can take action right away.
