Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California
Default judgment against me
I just found out that there has been a default judgement against me in California. The company that sued me was a property management company, which owned the apartment me and my roomate lived in. When I left the apartment everything appeared to be fine and come to find out they have a judgement against me. I was served no papers or nothing to even let me know i was being sued. I also found out that on my credit report the judgement filed against me has my name spelled wrong. And the judgement was in 1998. What can i do to get this off my credit report? I have been turned down for housing and a car loan?

Re: Default judgment against me
Accurate, verified credit information cannot be removed from your credit report for 7 years (10 years for bankruptcy). However, there are steps that you can take to repair your credit report. It is possible that your credit report can be repaired due to the bureaus being unable to verify the judgment.
It is also possible for you to fight to have the judgment vacated due to improper service. However, you need to check the apartment lease.
I would be happy to discuss this with you.
We charge a flat rate for credit repair attempts (through the credit bureaus). Fighting the judgment is done on a different fee basis.
