Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

Disagree with small claims decision

I took care of property while owners were out of country for 5 wks. I worked 100 hrs. They claim they said 40 hrs. Untrue. I took them to SC court for $1500 plus exp. of $87. Before court defendant sent me a ck for 600. As I was cashing it at my local grocer they put a stop pmt. I got the $ but the store is out the $ so they were going to go after the defendant. I haven't heard if they settled it. The judge awarded me $600 (by mail) with no explanation as to why not my expenses. And I don't even know if it's a total of $1200 or just the 600 that I already got. I had evedence what was owed to me (they had none). Is there some way for me to find out the reason the judge only awarded me $600? Even tho I won I don't agree with the judges decision. I understand that I can't appeal but do I have any rights? I worked 100hrs/$15 per hr. The other party just doesn't want to pay (he was even a jerk in court). Is this legal?

Re: Disagree with small claims decision

The case is over, and you won.

You should have used a lawyer as you would have got more $, and your attorney fees would have been reimbursed.
