Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

dispute collection

I recently moved. Forgot to inform bank of new address. However, post office did divert all mail to my address. I did not receive any bill, and they sent me to collection. I paid off the collection, but there goes my credit. This is all within a 3-4 month window. Any way can I dispute this. I just don't understand how junkmail could be diverted to me by USPS but not a credit card bill. My credit has been great until now. Would the law be on my side.

Re: dispute collection

You can always dispute what is contained in your credito report. However, it probably won't do you a lot of good, and it is unlikely that the creditor will remove any adverse information. If you don't receive a bill that you know you should be receiving, it is incumbent upon you to contact your creditor and find out why.
