Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

We dont dispute we owe the money but we have no money to pay past medical bills. We are to go to court for the second time for trial on it and we still have no money or medical insurance. They want to put a lien on My husbands home which I am not on. We dont mind making low easy monthly payments but they want 400 dollars a month. that is just not going to happen. Will the judge understand and help us to make lower payments? If they do put a lien on the house for the 5 thousand dollars will the obama home modification be revoked? We are such a mess just trying to keep our home. We hardly eat anymore and I cant work, im disabled. My husband barley have gas for work. We dont know what to do.
