Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

ello,

I live in California and was sued 2 years ago for a traffic accident. Judgment was found against me for over $30,000. My drivers license was suspended for non payment. I start a new job in a week and i need it back. Is there any way I can get it back or even a provisional license to get back and forth to work . If so, how do I go about doing this and can it be done in 5 days ?

You can file for bankruptcy and you can get your license back but not in five days. Maybe within a month after you filed the bankruptcy case to be realistic about it since it takes that long for DMV to clear things up after you give them notice of the bankruptcy filing.

There is a provision for a court to order a suspended license reinstated if neccessary. The forms are available at www.courtinfo.ca.gov under the forms tab. Whether you can get it done in 5 days, however, is doubtful, but will ultimately depend on whether the court in your county can give you a hearing that quickly.
