Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

I was engaged to my fiance for approx 18 months. I began paying her (very high) mortgage payments 12 months ago. The verbal agreement was: We would be married, and sell the house for a profit and move to Florida. We are no longer engaged. Do I have a claim? I have paid over 100 Thousand Dollars in her mortgage payments over the past 12 months.

This is a question which really covers a lot of different areas of law. First, there may be a family law element to this. There is also a contract question - what was the agreement, and is it enforceable. You will want to contact a local attorney and review all of the facts to see if you have any rights with respect to recovery of the money you advanced. Your best bet is probably an oral agreement for a claim to some part of the equity in the house, but it depends a lot on what the understanding/agreement was at the time that you started making these payments.
