Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

Equipment leasing scam

The company I was working for was going to take out a lease in their name for some equipment that I needed ASAP.

I contacted a local leasing company and explained that I had to have immediate turn around.

The leasing company told me that day that they were approved and to drop off a security check immediatley.

So I wrote out a check for 2200.00 and dropped it off. Weeks went by and they didn't return calls or have answers.

I had missed my deadline to order the equip. I called them and asked them to please return my check.

He refused and said that we had been approved w/ another company, therfore they are holding on to the deposit. In the meantime my company had applied through another company for a seperate lease completly not related to this equipment and it had nothing to do with that company.

I couldn't believe and I don't think they can legally do that.

I never signed anything stating that they could keep my money. Can anyone offer any help???

Re: Equipment leasing scam

You will probably have to look to the company you were working for to get your money back.
