Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

expired medical debt

I was contacted by a 3rd party collection agency in November, attempting to collect on a 2002 and 2004 bills combined totaling under $500. I sent them a certified cease and desist/ debt validation letter, and they sent me a letter somewhat validating the debt. Can they pursue me for payment considering the sol is expired? can they take a judgment against me for a bills totaling under $500?

Re: expired medical debt

If the statute of limitations has run, they will lose if they sue you. We need to review the letter. You may have a claim against the collection company under the Fair Debt Collection Act. Please contact us if you need assistance.
