Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

If I fail to pay a phone bill, does that company have the right to phone a third party (relative) and tell them how much they believe I owe, and that I should contact them? (they called twice) (they do not know my cell phone number)

THANK YOU,

LEONARD

Debt collectors may c0ntact a 3rd party ONCE to find your location only.

2nd contact is....................................................................................1st violation

The fact that they discussed your debt is............................................. 2nd violation.

2 violations of both State and Federal FDCPA laws.

Up to $1000 in statutory damages per violation, any actual damages and ATTORNEY's fees. You get to sue them for FREE...if you don't win, it costs you nothing.

( a contingency fee. You keep the statutory damages they pay your attorney fees.)
