Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California
Family Responaible for Debts
Will I be legally responsible for paying my deceased Mother's credit card bill? The credit card was in her name only. She had no will or estate. We did have a joint bank account with a little money in it for the funeral. Will I be legally responsible to use the rest of the money in the account for the credit card bill?

Technically you need to use anything that was hers to pay bills. I have had clients who simply write deceased on the envelope and send it back and they were not pursued.
