forgiveness of debt child support arrears

I am interested to find out whether or not there is a law or form to request a forgiveness of child support arrears on a one time basis.

Generally speaking, I'm not sure if there is something that makes you "not owe" child support that you already owe. This assumes, however, that the calculation of what you owe was proper in the first place. If you can argue that the calculation was wrong before, that's one thing. Otherwise, I don't believe you can get forgiveness of what has already been decided that you definitely owe. Now, if your financial situation has changed, perhaps you can ask for new calculation for the future based on new numbers (income, etc.).

In any event, consult with a family law attorney to get some current advice on this issue.
